Pena is a biannual international literary journal that publishes poetry, prose, literary criticism, book reviews and visual art. We publish work by both accomplished writers and new talent from around the world while maintaining a high standard of excellence in the quality of work published. Though the journal is primarily published in Albanian, much of it appears in English as well, as we translate a considerable amount of work accepted from both languages. Our goal is to reach a wide readership and to foster an appreciation for poets of all nationalities-for poetry is truly a Universal language.

Submission Guidelines:

- Unsolicited manuscripts are welcome. All submissions should be the original work of the author. We do not accept previously published work.
- Submissions are accepted from [Date] to [Date] each year.
- Simultaneous submissions are acceptable, but the writer must notify us immediately if the work is accepted elsewhere.
- A cover letter citing publications and awards is optional, though helpful.
- We hold first serial rights for material we publish. Upon publication, the copyright automatically reverts to the author.
- We only accept electronic submissions. Please send them as attachments (preferably Word, but RTF is acceptable) to both of the following addresses:

Poetry: Send no more than five poems, no more than twenty pages total.
Prose: Fiction and creative nonfiction is limited to 5,000 words. Novel excerpts are acceptable as long as they stand on their own.
Criticism & Reviews: Please send no more than two of each genre. Each work should be roughly 2,500 words. Visual Art: Attach three to five images in jpeg or gif format. Please note that most artwork will appear in black and white.
